What Makes Worsell Manor a Historic Wedding Venue for Delaware Couples

Delaware couples searching for a wedding venue with authentic history find something different at Worsell Manor. Our Manor House dates to 1683, and the barn we’ve restored is over 300 years old, with original high beams still overhead. When you celebrate here, you’re choosing a venue where history is documented and tangible, not decorative styling meant to look old.

Worsell Manor stands out as a historic wedding venue for Delaware couples with its authentic colonial architecture dating back to 1683. The Manor House and a restored 300-year-old barn offer genuine historical charm, complete with original beams, expansive spaces, and over 50 acres of landscaped grounds. With a mix of modern amenities and timeless elegance, Worsell Manor offers a wedding experience steeped in history.

The Historic Architecture That Sets Worsell Manor Apart

Authentic historic venues offer something modern constructions cannot replicate: architecture that has witnessed centuries of Mid Atlantic history, original colonial craftsmanship, and land cultivated across generations. Our 1683 Manor House, 300 year old barn, and 50 acres create a wedding experience rooted in documented heritage.

A 1683 Manor House With Original Colonial Architecture

The Manor House is an authentic colonial estate from 1683 with expansive foyers, fireplaces in each room, and high vertical windows that flood spaces with natural light. Six bedrooms accommodate up to 16 guests, and the third floor still shows original beams that have stood for over three centuries. The brick floored sun porch overlooks gardens and farm fields.

The formal dining room can host your rehearsal dinner, and the sitting and breakfast room gives your family a gathering space. We’re located at 555 Worsell Manor Road in Warwick, Maryland, just 10 minutes from Middletown, Delaware, and within 1.5 hours of Wilmington, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington DC.

The 300 Year Old Barn With Authentic High Beams

Our barn is a restored 300 year old working structure with authentic high beams and character from centuries of use. We’ve added custom lighting, heating, and air conditioning for modern comfort while preserving the historic bones of the building.

The barn holds 200 guests comfortably with a raised stage for your band or DJ, large doors and many windows that open to our wooded glen and fountain garden, and a spacious floor plan. You’ll receive 200 Chiavari chairs with cushions, 20 round tables, a wooden sweetheart table, two wine barrels, five cocktail tables, and access to our wood bar.

Four Outdoor Ceremony Sites Across 50 Acres of Heritage Land

Our 50 acres include manicured gardens, wooded glens, and four outdoor ceremony sites surrounded by heritage landscaping. You’ll have ceremony seating for 200 with white padded chairs, a tent and a backup generator for weather protection, and an ADA approved luxury restroom facility.

Your 12 hour venue rental includes the reception barn and granary barn. For weekend weddings, you’ll have Friday access from 12 pm to 5 pm for setup and rehearsal, and our team handles cleanup by Sunday at 3 pm. The fountain garden near the barn creates a natural flow from ceremony to cocktail hour to reception.

Amenities and Accessibility for All Guests

We provide modern bathrooms, climate control in the barn, ample parking, and handicap accessibility throughout the property.

We close seasonally from December through February, so couples planning spring, summer, or fall weddings have the full advantage of our grounds and outdoor ceremony sites. You can also return to the property for engagement photos.
