A Washington DC Wedding Weekend That Feels Like a Private Estate Celebration

When you’re planning from Washington DC, you want more than a pretty backdrop. You want a place where the weekend feels cohesive, guests know what’s next without being herded around, and you have space to breathe between the big moments. That’s the experience we build at Worsell Manor, a historic property in Warwick, Maryland, established circa 1683.

Here, your wedding weekend isn’t split across separate locations. Couples receive full use of the Manor House and the Barn, with outdoor ceremony options across the property, so the celebration can unfold in a way that feels personal and intentional.

A Washington DC wedding weekend can feel like a private estate celebration when the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and gathering spaces all stay on one property. This setting offers full use of a historic Manor House and Barn, four outdoor ceremony sites, and space for up to 200 guests with fewer logistics.

What makes a wedding weekend here feel like a private estate celebration

A private estate style weekend comes down to one thing: having everything you need in one place. At Worsell Manor, that means full use of the Manor House and the Barn, outdoor ceremony choices, and included essentials that make planning easier.

Begin the weekend inside the Manor House

The Manor House gives you real rooms for real moments. An expansive foyer welcomes guests as they arrive, and the house opens into spaces that naturally encourage conversation and connection. You’ll find fireplaces in each room, a formal dining room, a sitting and breakfast room, and a bar room that leads to the kitchen. High vertical windows bring in abundant natural light, and the sun porch features a brick floor and views across the grounds.

This is the part of the weekend that often feels most “estate like,” not because we promise a certain vibe, but because the house itself is designed for gathering.

Ceremony choices that keep the day flowing

Couples can choose from four outdoor ceremony sites on the property. We include ceremony seating for 200, which helps keep the ceremony setup consistent with your guest count planning. After the ceremony, guests can transition to the cocktail hour patio, then move into the Barn for the reception. Keeping those steps on one property can reduce logistical stress, especially for a guest list traveling in from Washington DC.

A Barn reception space built for celebration

The Barn at Worsell Manor is an authentic, high beamed historic barn, restored with updates while preserving its character. It includes a raised stage for a DJ or live band and a spacious floor plan that supports catering and entertainment. The Barn comfortably accommodates up to 200 guests, which is a key fit for couples who want a full reception experience without compromising comfort.

The Barn sits near the Manor fountain garden and the wooded glen, so your guests stay connected to the setting throughout the day.

What’s included, and why it matters

We include the practical pieces that shape how the weekend runs. Your booking includes a 12 hour venue rental and reception seating with 200 Chiavari chairs with cushions. For the ceremony, we include 200 white padded chairs. We also provide 20 reception tables that are 60 inch round for indoor use only, five cocktail tables, a wooden sweetheart table, and two wine barrels.

For guest comfort and flow, the property includes the cocktail hour patio, a wood bar, and an ADA approved luxury restroom facility. We also include an on site venue manager.

Weekend weddings include Friday setup and rehearsal during the designated hours, plus cleanup service completed by Sunday afternoon. You can also use the property for engagement photos, which is a simple way to keep your photo locations tied to the place you’re celebrating.

Bar policy, clearly defined

We provide curated bar packages designed for weddings. All alcohol for receptions must go through our bar company. Couples appreciate having that policy set from the start because it makes decision making more straightforward.
